Inaugural RISC Summit + Innovation Challenge
RISC—Risk Management and Insurance Strategic Collaborators—is a national consortium of leading higher education institutions committed to advancing innovation and addressing the most pressing challenges facing the risk management and insurance industry today. As founding members, these top programs will collaborate to share insights, explore emerging issues, and shape the future of the industry through joint initiatives and shared best practices.
The inaugural RISC event will bring together industry professionals, students, faculty, and staff for a forward-thinking experience centered on collaborative problem-solving and innovation. Topics such as artificial intelligence, talent pipeline development, and emerging risk trends will take center stage, alongside discussions around experiential learning models—including:
- Study abroad
- Connecting with industry professionals for projects and mentoring
- Career services
- Executive in Residence programs
- Gamma Iota Sigma engagement.
A highlight of the event will be the RISC Innovation Challenge—a high-energy, "Super Bowl-style" competition where student teams will present creative solutions to real-world challenges in front of a panel of expert judges from the innovation and insurance sectors and compete for $20,000 in prize money.
Participation in this inaugural event also marks institutions as founding members of RISC. Hosted this year by the University of Iowa in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Vaughan Institute, this gathering will serve as a milestone moment to reflect on the Institute’s impact, spotlight emerging industry needs, and amplify national recognition for participating programs.
