Tanya Wentzel began her career at EMC as a Property and Casualty Claims Representative and then a Commercial Underwriter. An opportunity to gain agency experience presented itself a few years later and she spent time at two local agencies, as an Account Manager. Upon returning to EMC, Tanya spent time in Corporate Office Marketing, Des Moines Branch Marketing and Personal Lines Operations. In August 2021, Tanya stepped into her current role of Regional Vice President – Central Region.

Tanya received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Iowa and a master’s degree from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. She has the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Associate in Commercial Underwriting (AU) designations. She has also completed the Associate in General Insurance (INS) series.

Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, attending sporting events and spending time with family and friends. Tanya and her husband, Matt, have two sons, Gabe and Luke.
