Brooks Wallace Award—Nation’s Top Shortstop
Brooks Lee
California Polytechnic University
For the last two seasons, no shortstop in the country has been as consistent while putting up impressive numbers as Brooks Lee. The junior put together back-to-back Big West Conference Field Player of the Year seasons for his hometown college and also put together an impressive set of numbers that made him the eighth overall pick in the 2022 Major League Baseball Draft by the Minnesota Twins. A finalist for the Brooks Wallace Award in 2021, Lee hit .357 with 15 home runs and 55 RBIs in leading the Mustangs to a second-place finish in the Big West. He also was strong in the field, finishing with a .951 fielding percentage while turning 25 double plays. Lee was named to the All-American teams of the ABCA, Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, DI Baseball and Perfect Game.
